Walter Lee Vinyard (W.L., Walt, Dad, GanGan) was born December 15, 1931 to Charlie and Myrtle Vinyard in Bovina, Texas. He married Mary Frances Gibbs on November 5, 1950. Walter passed away peacefully at home with Frances by his side as he took his last breath just 5 days short of their 70 th anniversary on October 31, 2020. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 pm on Friday, November 6, 2020, at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Fifth Street Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Whitharral Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bernice Lambert and Ester Vinyard; and brothers, Francis Vinyard, C.E. Vinyard, Jr. and infant brother J.C. Vinyard.
Walter is survived by his wife, Frances of Levelland, Texas; sons, Allen Vinyard and wife Teresa of Levelland, Texas and Chuck Vinyard of Lubbock, Texas; daughter, Sylvia Brown and husband Clifford of Whitharral, Texas; sisters, Wanda Clay of Cleburne, Texas, Patsy Salter of Lubbock, Texas, Anna Lyon of Bowie, Texas, Martha Turnbow of Gatesville, Texas, and Linda Raney of Paris, Texas; brother, Bobby Ray Vinyard of Bowie, Texas; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
On a day commonly associated with ghosts and goblins, heaven gained another angel. Rest in Peace Dad.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Walter’s memory be made to Fifth Street Baptist Church in Levelland, Texas.
