Vicente Lara, Jr.

Vicente Lara, Jr., 75, of Levelland passed from this life on January 28, 2022.  Visitation will be on Friday, February 4, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Krestridge Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at First Assembly of God.  Interment will follow in the Ropesville Cemetery.

He was born October 16, 1946 in Calvert, Texas to Vicente Sr. and Manuela Lara.  Vicente attended Ropesville schools.  He served in the United States Army from 1968-1970 as a combat engineer during the Vietnam War.

Vicente married the love of his life, Rachel Rodriguez, on March 8, 1971.  They built a beautiful life together for 50 years.  In 1989, Vicente began his career with Methodist Hospital, now known as Covenant Hospital, in 1989 and retired in 2018. He attended Levelland First Assembly of God.

He never met a stranger and loved like Jesus.  Vicente enjoyed fellowship at church and was truly a great prayer warrior.  He enjoyed listening to and singing worship music.

Vicente’s favorite pastime was watching old black and white westerns.  He cherished taking drives with his wife to no where in particular as long as he was with her.

He was a proud Vietnam Veteran who loved and always prayed for our country.

Vicente was preceded in death by his father, Vicente Lara, Sr.; mother, Manuela Lara; brother, Delfino Lara; nephew, Delfino Orion Lara; and cousin, Roberto Lara.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Lara; daughter, Tammy Mosteller and husband Andrew; brothers, Abram (Virginia) Lara of Lubbock, Atanasio Lara of Ropesville, Antonio (Hope) Lara of Lubbock and Rosario Lara of Levelland; sister, Mary (Tommy) Garza of Brownfield; cousins, Joe (Martha) Lara of Lubbock and Alcario (Gail) Lara, Jr. of Lubbock; and granddaughter, Addison Mosteller.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Speed the Light Missions.
