Sidney Don Huffman

Sidney Don Huffman was born in Olney, Texas on November 3, 1944, to Sidney and Adean Huffman. He passed from this life on November 1, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas. Graveside services will be held at the Sundown Cemetery on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.

Don grew up in Sundown, Texas with his three sisters Linda, Glinda and Nancy. He was a graduate of Sundown High School Class of 1963 and participated in Football, Basketball, Track and Band. He also graduated in 1969 from West Texas State University with a Bachelors in Business Administration. Don was an avid lifetime golfer and enjoyed playing the Sundown Golf Course with his parents and friends along with playing golf courses all over the country. 

During the early 1970’s, Don was a homebuilder before moving back home to Sundown where he bought “The Plant Place” a wholesale plant and garden supplier. He later worked for the Ball Seed Company and sold school furniture for the American Desk Company and also worked as a landman for the OGM Land Company out of Beaumont, Texas. Don raised his family in Sundown, Texas, where he served on City Council and on the Sundown School Board. Later in life, he served his community as a Mason.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Sidney and Adean Huffman. He is survived by his daughter D’Lyn Davis and husband Lonnie Davis of Emory, Texas with grandchildren Zephyr Oberman of Aurora, Colorado and Ciara Shinabery of Grapevine, Texas. He is also survived by his son, Don Huffman II of Reno, Nevada and sisters Linda and Dick Stafford of Temple, Texas, Glinda and Bud Rusk of Amarillo and Nancy Howard of Amarillo, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
