Shirley Jean Baccus

 Shirley Jean Baccus, 78, of Levelland, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 30, 2024. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas to HL and Dot (Dottie) Whitener on August 19, 1946. She was welcomed into heaven by both of her parents, and grandparents, her in-laws, as well as her sister, Gloria Shaw, and brother, Bill Whitener, and many loved and cherished relatives, friends, and loyal dogs.

Remaining to honor her legacy are her husband, Roy Eugene Baccus, three sons, Mark Baccus and his wife, Shea, Keith Baccus and his wife, Cathy, and Brent Baccus and his wife, Donne; 7 grandchildren, Cale, Maycee, Grady, Kwade, Kutter, Kelby and Wyatt; 4 great-grandchildren, Brogan Baccus, Ella, Laikyn, and Stevie Scarlett; Sister, Donna Miller; Nieces and Nephews, beloved chosen brothers and sisters, and her 4-legged puppy-companion, Sheba.

After graduating from Levelland High School in 1964, she attended South Plains College in Levelland. She met Eugene Baccus in 1964 while still in high school, and they were married on June 25, 1965. After moving to Springfield, Colorado and farming for 2 years, they moved back to Levelland and started their family. Mark was born in 1967, Keith 1969, and Brent 1971. She started work in 1970 at Shamburger Implement as a bookkeeper. She retired in 2020 after 50 years of dedicated service. She was a committed and faithful member of the Second Baptist Church in Levelland, serving on numerous committees, helping wherever and whenever she was needed. She was a member of the Progressive Women's Club. She was dedicated and very loyal to her family and friends. She loved baking, cooking, and showing up for all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events and school activities. She loved music and singing in the church choir.

Shirley always put family first. She loved her family and friends fiercely and was always ready to show up when needed with a cobbler or cake in hand, a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, or clapping hands to cheer you on.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the Second Baptist Church in Levelland, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations be made in Shirley's name to her church or any charity of your choice.
