Selma King Dean, 99, of Levelland passed from this life on February 24, 2023. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Rutledge Cemetery in Poteet, Texas.
She was born June 11, 1923 in Brown County to W.W. and Selma Coffee. Selma lived most of her adult life in Poteet, Texas. She enjoyed working in numerous government agencies before finishing her career at the Veteran Administration in Lubbock.
Selma enjoyed volunteering at the Poteet Strawberry Festival and hosting family and friends in her home. After moving to Lubbock, she enjoyed square dancing, fishing, playing games, and traveling with her husband and family in their RV.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lubbock and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Selma was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond King; husband, Robert Dean; sons, Raymond Lee King and J.W. King; parents, W.W. and Selma Coffee; great grandson, Cooper Chase; and siblings, Elizabeth McGrath, Della Mae Harr, Mary Lee Dillahunty, William Paul Coffee, Alfred James Coffee, Homer Coffee, Carol Jacob Coffee, Gideon Coffee and Daniel Richard Coffee.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Linda) King; grandson, Blair King; granddaughter, Kristi (Damon) Chase; great granddaughter, Tyler Chase; great grandson, Nate King; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Selma’s memory to the Scottish Rite Learning Center Lubbock, or a charity of your choice.
