Roy Malcolm O'Donovan, 91, of Levelland passed from this life on September 24,2024. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 28,2024 in the City of Levelland Cemetery.
Roy first saw the light of day on December 8,1932. He was born to Bert and Elizabeth Brownlee O’Donovan in the piney woods of Kilgore in East Texas. In his youth his parents moved a few times before eventually settling in the tiny oil and cotton patch town of Sundown, where he lived through out his school years. As soon as he graduated from school, he was offered a job that he couldn’t turn down; the draft board. Roy had the dubious pleasure of military duty during the Korean and Vietnam fiascos. When he completed his tour of duty in 1966, he took a job in Sundown at the Slaughter Gas Plant and made Levelland his home. Many years were wasted drinking to try to adjust back to civilian life. This self-prescribed alcohol for his convoluted mind was a misguided treatment and very often heavily regretted. After more time elapsed Roy decided to re-enter the military by joining the Naval Reserve, where he eventually retired with a total of 33 years of service to his country. Roy was the biggest supporter of the Levelland Loboettes and would attend every game he was able. He was extremely proud of his military service and his Irish background.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bertran and Elizabeth O’Donovan.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his nephew, Ricky Clem and wife, Diane and nieces, Georgia Wilson and Becky Roland along with numerous grand-nieces and nephews.
Services with integrity, honor and pride are under the direction of Krestridge Funeral Home. (806) 897-1111
