Romeo Zapata Gutierrez

Romeo Zapata Gutierrez, 83, of Levelland went home to his Heavenly Father on August 9, 2022.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm with the Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00pm at Krestridge Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 12, 2022, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Jonathan Phillips officiating.  Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.

Romeo was born March 17, 1939 in Robstown, Texas to Trinidad and Ofelia Gutierrez. He attended school in Ropesville, Texas. 

He married Socorro Hernandez on April 23, 1960.  Romeo had a successful painting career in which he inspired many to follow in his footsteps. 

Romeo was a life long member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.  He was also a life time member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother who will be greatly missed.

Romeo was preceded in death by his parents, Trinidad and Ofelia Gutierrez; wife, Socorro Gutierrez; son, Gary Gutierrez; brothers, Robert and Trinidad, Jr.; and sister, Janie Gutierrez.

He is survived by his children, Gloria (Jesse) Castro, Ricky Gutierrez, Debbie Gutierrez, Minerva G. (Frank Villarreal) Quezada, and Eddie (Josie) Gutierrez; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
