Robert James Phillips

Robert James Phillips, 85, of Levelland, Texas passed from this life on August 16, 2023. Visitation will be Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Cactus Drive Church of Christ with a Memorial Service following at 11:00 a.m. 

 He was born September 23, 1937 in Munday, Texas to Coy and Lois Phillips.  Robert grew up in Ropesville and graduated from Ropesville High in 1956.  He was an outstanding athlete playing football and basketball.

After high school Robert went to West Texas State University on a football scholarship and played for 1 year before returning home to begin his career in farming in 1958. Robert farmed for 44 years before retiring at the age of 65.

After retiring Robert had a small cow/calf operation for a few years, loved playing golf, fishing and woodworking.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.   He never missed an event of his children growing up.

Robert married Jane Moore on October 18^th, 1986.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Doris Wayne Anderson; and brother, Coy Rufus Phillips, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; his sons, Russ Phillips (Debbie) of Odessa and Rodney Phillips (Becky) of Wolfforth; daughter, Rebecca Macha (Dee) of Levelland; step-son, Landon Barnes (Meredith) of Frisco; sisters, Linda Robertson and Glenda Arthur (Loyd); grandchildren, Carson Phillips (Leslie), Mackenzie Dunbar (Wade), Hillary Mayers (Zac), Tucker and Luke Phillips; step-grandchildren, Connor Landers, Sydney and Jake Barnes; great-grandchildren, Jurni and Wayson Dunbar, Penn Phillips, Margot Mayers, Brynne Phillips; step great-grandchildren, Ben and Chloe Landers; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
