Rita Ray Gibson

Rita Ray Gibson, 84, of Levelland passed from this life on February 8,2025. Funeral Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 13,2025 at College Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.

Rita was born June 27,1940 in Bakersfield, California to Preston and Anna Davis. She married Bill Gibson on September 4,1959 in Selma, Alabama. She was saved in 1967 at Western Hills Baptist Church in Lubbock. In 1969, she moved to Levelland and joined College Avenue Baptist Church and was a member until her passing. Rita wanted everyone she knew to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

She was a beauty operator and had her own shop for 40 years. Later she and Bill kept babies for schoolteachers in their home. Rita and Bill traveled often and were very proud of visiting 48 states. In her free time, she loved to crochet and antiquing (especially for elephants). Rita was both an artist and a crafter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Preston and Anna Davis; brothers, Butch Davis and Bill Callaway and son, Terry Ray Gibson.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her husband of 65 years, Bill Gibson; daughter, Jerri Perry and husband, Scott; son; Rusty Gibson and wife, Zana; along with six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
