Olive Rebecca Deavours

Olive Rebecca Deavours was a loving person to all who knew her.  She left this world on July 7, 2022 at the age of 101 to spend an eternity with her Lord and Savior.

She was born to Marcus W. and Ollie Huff on February 4, 1921 in Moulton, Texas. After graduating from Lubbock High School, class of 1939, she attended Texas Tech University, class of 1942, earning her degree and became a school teacher, beginning her career in Texas.  She taught in Brownfield, Lubbock, Washington State at a military base and finally, at Whiteface, where she spent many years as an elementary art and music teacher, and was a mainstay in that district when she finally retired at the age of 98. 

In 1944, she married her husband, Raymon Deavours, the love of her life, and became a military wife.  Raymon passed from this life in 1981.  She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

Olive was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, and one sister.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her four children, Harold (Norma) Deavours of Lakeway, TX, Hubert (Judy) Deavours of Whiteface, TX, Dianne Ward (Dale Burris) of Lubbock, TX, and Elizabeth (Bob) Cummings of Amarillo, TX; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, along with many friends and neighbors who will miss her dearly.

A time of reflection and visitation will be held from 6 - 8 PM, Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Krestridge Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, July 13, 2022 in the sanctuary of the Morton Church of Christ, Morton, TX with Joey Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at 12 noon in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
