Juanita Cherry Crawford, 95, of Levelland passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 3,2024. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, August 8,2024 at Krestridge Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.
Nita was born in Lamesa on October 17,1928 to Gilbert William and Cora Irene Walling Cherry. Born the daughter of a cotton farmer, together with her seven sisters, they were a very hard-working family. This work ethic instilled in her at a very young age carried on throughout her life. She was baptized at the age of eight at Austin Street Church of Christ.
Nita was an upstanding citizen and pillar of the community in Levelland. She tirelessly served the farmers and ranchers as co-owner of Crawford Equipment. She was an accomplished seamstress, beautician, bookkeeper, postal worker, police dispatcher and wheat farmer.
She graciously donated to the scholarship programs at South Plains College and other charitable organizations. She enjoyed traveling, reading, canning and preserving, spending time with her family and was known to play a slot machine or two.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Cora Cherry; six sisters, sons, Danny Ray and Joe Dale Turner; first husband, Robert Lee (Bob) Turner; second husband, Joe Ed Crawford; grandson, TJ Turner and granddaughter, Jeannie Quinn.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her daughter, Nita Bob McFadin and husband Wayne; granddaughters, Summer McFadin, Sarah Turner and Bonnie Turner; grandsons, Parker McFadin and Robert Quinn; sister, Wanda Harmon along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
