Nancy Jane Stafford, 85, surrounded by her family, ran into the arms of Jesus on December 31, 2022. Nancy was born March 9, 1937, to Lowell and Minnie Hiberd in Durant, Oklahoma. She married the love of her life, Dave Stafford, in January 1953. Dave and Nancy spent the next 61 years building their family and legacy which includes 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
The only thing Nancy loved more than her family was Jesus. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Levelland. Her faith ran deep and she instilled the love of Jesus in each and every member of her family. Her dedication to God and family spilled into her kitchen every Sunday where she would cook up each kid’s favorite meal ensuring they each knew they were her favorite person.
Nancy dedicated the early years of her marriage to tending to the house. She loved to sew and was the known for making outfits for her girls in a flash. She also enjoyed cheering on her son as he played baseball. As her children began to grow, Nancy enjoyed working outside the home. She spent 32 years in banking at Levelland State Bank. Following her “retirement” she went on to work in nursing homes with her daughter. It gave her great pleasure helping those in her care.
Nancy loved spending time in Ruidoso, watching the Texas Rangers and keeping her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her tall-tales, wit, wisdom, and most of all her love.
Nancy is survived by her three children, Brenda Baker (Bill), Karen McKenzie, and Keith Stafford (DeAnna); 11 grandchildren, Kyla Baker, Laurie Key, Seth Graf (Missy), Jace Baker (Alexis), Kristin Miller (Andy), Amie Stafford, Ashleigh Fergerson, Michael Stafford, Jessi Stafford, Zane Stafford, Tanner McKenzie (Courtney); and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Stafford; her daughter, Debbie Graf; grandson, Kane Stafford; and great-grandson, Dylan Baker.
The family would like to thank the Lynwood Nursing Home staff and nurses and Hospice of Lubbock for taking care of our Mom and Mamaw.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
