Myles Demel

Myles Demel

Myles Edward Demel (72) of Levelland left this earth on October 2, 2021. The oldest of six, Myles was born on October 28, 1949 in Littlefield, Texas to Max and Ruth Demel. Myles grew up and attended school in Pep, Texas.

After attending West Texas A&M in Canyon, Myles went on to work in a variety of fields such as photography, farming, and eventually owning his own fast line and backhoe business, Kwik-Lay.

Myles married the love of his life, Raoma, on September 18, 1977. In their 44 years of marriage, they built a full and beautiful life and were blessed with three sons and six grandchildren. Myles was a loving husband, father, Papa, brother, uncle, and friend. He had a gentle and loving spirit that drew people to him and he made instant friends everywhere he went. He was happiest when he was surrounded by people he loved and he will always be remembered for his fierce love of his family.

After retirement, Myles continued working hard tending to their 23 acre country home. He enjoyed gardening, caring for his many animals, including cows, goats, llamas, and chickens, as well as canning vegetables. More than anything, his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

Myles and Raoma enjoyed many adventures together including mining for gems in Arkansas, tubing through caves in Belize, floating the Dead Sea and planting a family olive tree during their two trips to Israel, as well as travels to Arizona, Portland, New York and Mexico. Myles was a man of faith and his love for God was evident in all he did. In years prior, Myles had told each of his boys that he was at peace with leaving this earth when his time came because he knew exactly where he was going and what eternity held for him.

Myles is survived by his wife, Raoma Demel; sons, Clint Demel, John (JIll) Demel, and Bucky (Katelin) Demel all of Levelland; mother- and father-in-law, Naomi & R.E. Bullin of Levelland; sisters, Sheri Stone of Tahoka, Susan Gandy of Levelland, and Josephine Macha of Plainview; brothers Stephen Demel of Snyder and Robert Demel of Whiteface; brother-in-law, Rodger Bullin; grandchildren, Abigail, Melodie, Rachael, Emerson, Rohen and Max, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
