Mildred Ruth Gunter

Mildred Ruth Gunter, 94, of Lubbock, formerly of Levelland, passed from this life on September 30, 2023.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Krestridge Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.

She was born in Haskell, Texas, Haskell County at home out on the farm on September 19, 1929.  Mildred attended schools in Post, Paint Creek and Morton.  She graduated from Morton High School in 1947.

Mildred married Paul Gunter on June 9, 1951.  She worked at Taylor Drug Store, Morton Power and Light and Morton State Bank before moving to Dimmit in 1971.  She and Paul lived in Alabama, Mississippi and other places, wherever Paul’s work took them.  After Paul’s retirement, they moved to Levelland in January 2000. 

She was a member of the Methodist faith.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, W.L. and Gladys Davis; husband, Paul Gunter; son, Ricky Gunter; sisters, Margaret (Curtis) Chapman, Alliene (Leon) Hamilton, Billie (Granville) Lasseter and Patsy (Wayne) Coffman; brothers, Roy (Ruby) Davis, Leonard (Larue) Davis, Wayne (Delores) Davis and Terry (Wadonna) Davis.

She is survived by son, Andy (Jeanie) Gunter; grandchildren, Wes (Lauren) Gunter and Holly (Cris) Martinez; and great grandchildren, Dempsey Gunter, Camden Gunter, Beau Martinez and Lola Martinez.
