Martina Bazan

Martina Montalvo Bazan, 87, of Levelland passed from this life on January 19, 2020. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, with a rosary at 7:00 pm at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, in the Krestridge Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.

She was born March 14, 1932 in Rio Grande City, Texas to parents, Mauro and Francisca (Mayorga) Montalvo. Martina married Esteban Bazan in 1952. She graduated proudly from Lubbock Christian University in 1978. She was a long time third grade teacher at Cactus Elementary.

Martina and Esteban would pack up all the children every weekend to visit friends and relatives. While Esteban was on the tractor at the farm, Martina would take all the children to pick cotton or hoe weeds in the cotton fields. Martina took great pride in doing an excellent job in the fields.

During the children's teenage years, Martina was also a girls' softball coach and the entire family and local families became friends.

Martina and Esteban's children thank their parents for settling in Levelland as it was a perfect town for their family. The children also want to thank everyone that always asked about their Mom prior to her passing. Martina will always be well remembered.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Esteban; siblings, Martiriano, Bernardo, Margarita, Domingo, Johnny and Rene.

Martina is survived by her children, Elizabeth Mercado, Elida (Kurt) Graf, Esteban (Linda) Bazan, Jr., Evelyn (Tony J.) Alcazar, Elijio (Indalisa) Bazan; and Elliott (Veronica) Bazan; brother, Gregorio; sister, Maria; grandchildren, Kara, Miah, Michael, Lauren, Gisele, Steven, Andrew, Meagan, Christian, Ian and Theron; and great grandchildren, Alejandro and Sebastian.
