Marie Tienda

Marie H. Tienda, 74, of Levelland passed from this life on February 4, 2020.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 pm, on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 10, 2020, at St. Michael's Catholic Church.

She was born January 27, 1946 in McDade, Texas to parents, Antonio and Francisca (Renteria) Herrera. Mary married Nick Tienda, Jr. on October 3, 1964 at St. Michael’s Church.  They had 3 children, Eddie, Tommy and Angela.  In 1975, the family opened Tienda’s Mexican Restaurant and Tortilla Factory.

Mary was a loving daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She was a child of God who had very strong faith and regularly attended St. Michael’s Church where she completed all of her sacraments.

Her favorite color was mauve.  She was very creative and loved to spend time making and painting ceramics and other crafts.  Mary also enjoyed crocheting, cooking, gardening, traveling with their friends, dancing and babysitting. She was a very strong woman who raised her children very well.  Mary also had her hand in helping raise all of her grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Although they owned a restaurant, Mary would make breakfast, lunch and dinner daily for her husband, Nick.  She was a wonderful housewife, but would help at the restaurant regularly.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Nicolas (Nick) Tienda, Jr.; son, Edward Tienda; father, Antonio Herrera; mother, Francisca Herrera; brother, Antonio Herrera, Jr.; and sisters, Katy Coronado and Anita Gonzales.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Tienda Catt (Brian); son, Thomas Tienda; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Tienda; brother, Ricky Herrera; sisters, Lupe Herrera, Julia Mendoza, Lucy Herrera and Delores Vasquez; sister-in-law, Carmen Herrera; grandchildren, Tiffany Tienda, Edward James Tienda, Angelica Tienda LeCroy (Anthony), Gary Grant, Jr. (Vaness), Michael Grant, Nicholas Grant (Sofia), Diamond Tienda, Thomas Edward Tienda, Acileana and Jacky Catt; great grandchildren, Jaxon Tienda, Dallas Gonzales, Addie, Marley and Dania Tienda, Zaiden and Zameron LeCroy, Novalie and Jaxx Grant, Hailyn and Roger Grant, Austin Grant, Ruby Tienda, Guadalupe and Max Tienda.
