Lynda Louise Vaughan

Lynda Louise Vaughan, 76, of Lubbock, Texas passed from this life on February 19, 2025, in Lubbock. Born May 2, 1948, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to John Chellis Drake, Jr. and Dorothy Louise Handley, Lynda was the third of five children. She grew up in Sudan, Texas, where she graduated from Sudan High School in 1966 and was voted Senior Class Favorite.

Lynda married the love of her life, Larry Dean Vaughan, on April 17, 1970, in Sudan, Texas. Together, they raised four daughters in Hobbs, New Mexico, until Larry's passing in 1989. Lynda was a dedicated nurse throughout her life, caring for patients in various healthcare settings. Her nurturing spirit and compassionate nature touched the lives of many.

Though Lynda enjoyed a variety of hobbies, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her love for her family was evident in everything she did.

Lynda was preceded in death by her father, John Drake; her mother, Dorothy Handley; her beloved husband, Larry Vaughan; and her brothers, Leslie Earl Drake and John Lewis Drake.

She is survived by her daughters, Amy Land (Ty), Amanda Davis (Dustin), Stacey Vaughan, and Lacey Vaughan; her grandchildren, Ty Horne (Autumn), Klay Horne, Brayden Davis, Kaylea Vaughan, Jara Davis, Crockett Thetford, Kyndal Davis, Travis Massie, and Wyatt Massie; and one great-granddaughter, Bristol LaRue Horne. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Cunningham; her brother, Terry Drake (Pam); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
