Kathy Lynn Gilyard

Kathy Lynn Gilyard, 59, of Lubbock passed from this life on Sunday, June 9, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas. Kathy was born January 5, 1965, to Loretta Sabvino and Charles L. Jackson in Levelland, Texas. She spent most of her younger years living in Whiteface, Texas. In 1983 she graduated from Whiteface High School.  From high school, she went on to attend South Plains College, where she earned and received her Nursing Health Service Certification.  After her certification, she went to work at the Methodist Hospital.  While working at Methodist Hospital she met her husband Carr.  After marrying her husband Carr, they move to Dallas. Kathy went to work for United Healthcare and was employed there for over 20 years.  After the death of her husband Carr, she moved back to Lubbock, Texas.

Kathy loved to paint and became an accomplished artist in her work.  She enjoyed music of all genres and loved to dance.  Her smile was wonderful.  She had a true love for life.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carr; her parents, Charles L. Jackson and Loretta Sabvino, and Sherry Jackson.

Those who are left to cherish her memories are, Carl Sabvino Sr, Carl Sabvino Jr, Ben Sabvino, Nichole Sabvino, Samyria Sabvino, Givanni Sabvino, Jeremiah “Taz” Sabvino, Linda Jackson with husband Mike, Derrail Smith, Greg Harper with wife Carmen, Barbara Foley, and Ricky Jackson with wife Eva.

The family would like to thank everyone who supported Kathy through prayer and love, with special thanks to UMC nurses in GTSCU, MICU, and her friend Irene.

Funeral services will be held, 11 am Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Krestridge Funeral Home, 505 Austin Street Levelland, Texas with Rev. Dennis Cates officiating; interment will follow at City of Levelland Cemetery. 

Visitation will be 5pm - 7pm Friday, June 14, 2024 at Krestridge Funeral Home
