Joe Nipper

Joe Boren Nipper, 83, of Levelland passed from this life on November 7, 2021.  Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Levelland.  Visitation will be held from 2:30 until service time.  Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.

He was born February 13, 1938 in the Memphis Hospital in Memphis, Texas to Joe Green Nipper and Ruth Bell (Boren) Nipper.  Joe moved to Levelland with his parents and baby sister, Anna, when he was 3 years old.  He graduated from Levelland High School in 1956.  After graduation, Joe took classes at Texas Tech before joining the Army in 1958.  He spent a few years in the Army and National Guard before returning to Hockley County.  Joe retired from farming after 50 plus years.

Joe married Patsy Weathers in January 1965.  Together, they adopted Thad and had two more children, John and Sherri.  He married Raynelle Miller in December 1981 and was widowed after 37 years of marriage.

His favorite pastimes were fishing and the farm.  Joe enjoyed drinking coffee with his buddies in Levelland. He always had a great sense of humor.  His family was blessed to have him in their lives. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Green Nipper; mother, Ruth Bell Nipper; step-son, Gary Miller; step-daughter, Carol Heron; and spouse, Raynelle Nipper.

He is survived by sons, Thad Nipper of Colorado and John Nipper and wife Shannon of California; daughter, Sherri Glenn of Texas; sister, Anna Ruth Richardson of Texas; step-son, Ricky Miller and wife Stephanie of Texas; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
