Jimmie L. Price

Funeral services for Jimmie Lilbourne (J.L.) Price, 101, of Levelland will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 8, 2022, at College Avenue Baptist Church. He passed away April 3, 2022.  Visitation will be on Thursday, April 7, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Krestridge Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.

Jimmie was born May 17, 1920 to W.E. and Lizzie Price in El Dorado, Arkansas.  His family moved to Texas when he was 6.  He graduated from Pettit High School.  After attending Draughon’s Business College, he worked in the Hockley County Tax Office.  He was inducted into the U.S. Army on December 3, 1941.  He served on the Island of Saipan.  He was discharged November 29, 1945 with the rank of Sergeant.  He met and married Selma Keen on May 30, 1948.  He decided to go from the tax office to the farm.  He and his brother-in-law, Johnnie Keen, farmed together for many years.  Together, Selma and Jimmie raised 6 children on the farm at Pettit.  She preceded him in death in 1987.

Jimmie met and married Jo Ann Gresham in 1989.  Joining together their families to have a total of 9 children.  Their delight was attending the events of their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren whether it was a ball game, stock show, play, wedding, or holiday event.  Traveling was their joy.  They went on many adventures here and abroad.  They loved going to South Padre Island and to the mountains of Ruidoso.

 Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife, Selma Price; his wife, Jo Ann Price; son, Randy Price; daughter, Mary Lynn Sherley; granddaughter-in-law, Linda Price; brothers, Woodrow Price, Bussie Price and Thomas Price; sister, Willie Mae Welch; and his parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to College Avenue Baptist Church.
