Jerry Osburn

Jerry Wayne Osburn of Levelland, Texas was 76 years old when he left this life to begin his next with our Lord, Jesus Christ. He was resting comfortably at home in the presence of his wife, Laurie, when he passed on September 5, 2019. Jerry was born on July 27, 1943 in Brownwood, Texas to George C. Osburn and Troy (nee Fortner) Osburn who made their home in Brownwood before moving to Clovis, New Mexico. Jerry accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and was baptized at the age of 6. He graduated from Clovis High School in 1961. After high school, Jerry attended college at Howard Payne University and Eastern New Mexico University before entering the work force where he worked in banking and financing for many years before he eventually made his mark in Hereford, Texas and Levelland in hospital administration. He served the surrounding community for 21 years as the administrator and CEO of Covenant Hospital of Levelland and, eventually, as Regional Vice President of Covenant Systems. Jerry ended his career in May of this year as the CEO of Yoakum County Hospital in Denver City, Texas. He was a life-long Baptist, where he has served his Lord as a Sunday School teacher. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Levelland, Texas. Jerry loved the mountains and streams of Colorado and New Mexico where he enjoyed family vacations, fishing streams and rivers, sitting by the light and in the warmth of campfires, exploring old mining roads and ghost towns, and sharing the experience with his growing family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, George C. Osburn of Houston, Texas and his mother, Troy Osburn of Brownwood, Texas.

He is survived by Laurie Osburn, his loving wife of 21 years, of Levelland, Texas and her children Bradley Lorance and Melaney of South Fork, Colorado and Kaytelin Demel and Bucky of Levelland, Texas.

He is also survived by the mother of his children Patricia Paxton, and her husband Keith of Levelland, Texas, He leaves behind three loving children; son, Dr. Clayton Osburn and his wife, Bridgette, of Monahans, Texas; daughter Laura Precure and her husband, Dr. Michael Precure, of Alamogordo, New Mexico; and son Derek Osburn and his wife, Sharla, of Lubbock, Texas.

Jerry's younger brother, Richard Osburn and his wife, Stephanie, survive him and both live in The Woodlands, Texas.

He was known as ''Grand-daddy'' to his grandchildren Joshua Osburn, Machelle Osburn, Annie Kate Whitaker and husband Doug, Dr. Stuart Precure and wife Christine, Madeleine O'Neal and husband Sean, Rachael Precure, Aspyn Osburn, Caleb Osburn, Makaidyn Osburn, Daniel Osburn, Pacyn Osburn, Emerson Demel, Rohen Demel, Seth Osburn, and Maxwell Demel and to his great grandchildren, Donovan Osburn, Kayci Whitaker, and Wesley Whitaker.

Jerry can count many, many friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss his counsel, his wisdom, his friendship, his humor, and his generosity.

His family will miss him tremendously.
