Dwayne ''Oscar'' Palmer passed from this life on October 16, 2018 after a brief illness with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 19, 2018, at Krestridge Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.

He was a lifelong resident of Levelland and a member of three Hockley County pioneering families. His mother's family, the Joe F. Gerik family, were among the first settling families in Pep, Texas. They settled in Pep in 1923. His grandmother, Edna Atchison Palmer and Mixon Palmer, Sr. came to Levelland in 1924. Oscar was the oldest son of Mixon and Estelle Palmer and raised in a loving extended family.

Oscar attended Levelland Schools and served in the U.S. Army as a medic, stationed in Germany during his service. After his service, he returned home and joined his Dad in the dry cleaning business. Oscar managed and operated Palmer's Cleaners until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pam Palmer; nephew, Kevin Landreth and great niece, Kryson Sutton.

Oscar is survived by brothers, Mickey Palmer and Mike Palmer; sisters, Sandra Chancey of Muleshoe, Donna Landreth of Midland, Cathy Palmer of Lubbock, and Karen Hicks of Levelland; a large number of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
