Gerald D. Davis, 89, of Levelland, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, at University Medical Center in Lubbock. Funeral services are Monday, February 3rd at 10:00 AM at Second Baptist Church with internment to follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2nd, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Krestridge Funeral Home. Gerald was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who touched countless lives with his kindness, faith, and devotion to family and community.

Born on June 6, 1935, to Loyd Erby and Eva Louise Davis, Gerald grew up in West Texas and graduated from O'Donnell High School. On June 25, 1956, he married the love of his life, Margarett Ann Knight (Peggy). Together, they built a beautiful life full of love and laughter until her passing on January 1, 2019.

Gerald worked as a drilling foreman for Amoco and retired in 1988 after a long and successful career. He was a founding member of Second Baptist Church, where he cultivated lifelong friendships and a deep sense of community. As a member of the Masons, Gerald found joy in cooking fried turkeys during Thanksgiving holidays, sharing his culinary talents and generous spirit with others.

After his wife’s death, Gerald became an active member of the Senior Citizens community and spent time delivering food to nearby nursing homes, offering a helping hand to others until his health made it too difficult. Sundays were especially meaningful to him, as he cherished gathering with family after church to enjoy meals and create memories.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd Erby and Eva Louise Davis; his older brother, Loyd “Buggs” Davis; his younger sister, Wanda; and his beloved wife, Peggy.

He is survived by two brothers, Wayne and wife Yvonne of New Deal, Harvey and wife Mary of Joshua,Tx , three sons: Duane, and wife Brenda of Levelland, Steve and wife Rene of Lubbock, and Ron of Taloga, Oklahoma. Gerald's legacy also includes many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Second Baptist Church in honor of Gerald’s memory.

Gerald’s life was a testament to faith, hard work, and love for those around him. He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
