Gary Loyd Merriman

Celebration of Life services will be held at 3:30 pm on February 26, 2022 at First Christian Church for Gary Merriman, 70, of Levelland, Texas, formerly of Plainview.  A reception for family and friends will begin at 2:00 pm prior to the service.  Gary went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at UMC Hospital in Lubbock.

He was born December 22, 1951 in Farwell, Texas to Doyn and Katherine Merriman.  He married the love of his life, Valerie Job in July 1985.  Gary was a creative problem solver, a fearless risk taker and a life-long learner. 

Gary graduated from Hale Center High School in 1969 and joined the United States Navy.  Because of his love of driving, he became a truck driver and toured the USA.  He went into business with his father, Doyn at Merriman Woodworks and worked alongside him for many years.  Later, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science at Texas Tech University in 1997.

He was a Christian and an active member in Cornerstone Country Church, where he served as an elder

Survivors include his wife Valerie, his brother Dale Merriman and his wife Monette, of Canyon, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his amazing parents, Doyn and Katherine (Shelley) Merriman and his brother, Gene Merriman.

Because of his love of learning, his spiritual growth and service to others and in lieu of flowers, please support an educational endeavor of your choice, be it a scholarship, a summer Bible Camp or a local school program.
