Fernando was born on July 6, 1940 in La Trindad, Mexico to Pedro Luna and Elvira Cornado. He married Maia Isabel Vasquez on in October of 1981 in Ulysses, Kansas. Fernando Luna was rooted in Mexico, but his life was in Levelland, Texas. Fernando Luna was a man of patience and strong faith. He spent his life working as a farmer and building his family on the core principles of God, love, and compassion. Fernando’s house was filled with his children and many grandchildren each and every day. His children understood the importance of togetherness due to the traditions he cherished in his home. Each meal he would ensure everyone had a plate served before he blessed their food. Each night in the multiple family sleepovers he would bless each one of his grandchildren with the sign of the cross before they went to bed. Another favorite tradition amongst the grandchildren, was how he would randomly give them dollar bills and make their whole day. Fernando enjoyed doing lawn work at his home or his children’s home when he noticed their roses bushes needed tending to. During the week, you could catch Fernando with his daughters at Jalisco’s or on a spontaneous adventure to complete his latest DIY project. His many sons were the reason behind his love for football. That carried to his love for the many sports he watched his grandchildren play. Aside from family sports, Fernando loved cheering on the Levelland Lobos and Dallas Cowboys. At first look, Fernando was a serious man but under his guaybera shirt was a cat t-shirt that made everyone smile. Fernando had a strong sense of compassion for others that extended passed his immediate family. Fernando truly loved thy neighbor. Above all else, Fernando’s love for God is the reason for his abundant life. Tears will fall for Fernando, but peace will follow as Fernando has met his creator due to his core principles of God, love and compassion.
