Evelyn Louise Newton went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2024. Louise, lovingly known as "Granny", was born on October 12, 1930, in Lubbock, Texas to Lewis Gibbs and Zelma Mae Fred.
Louise married R.T. (Bob) Newton on June 24, 1948, in Levelland, TX. Louise worked alongside her husband at the Enochs Co-Op Gin for many years serving as the bookkeeper. After their retirement from the gin, they moved to Levelland. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Enochs until the church closed, then her membership was transferred to Morton Methodist Church. After moving to Levelland, she became a member of the Levelland Methodist Church and was an active member until moving into Lynwood Nursing home. She attended church each Sunday at Lynwood. She was a member of The Eastern Star in Levelland. She loved gardening and was a member of the Levelland Garden Club for many years.
Granny is survived by three sons and their wives: Dennis & Patricia Newton of Bryan, Tom & Carolyn Newton of Morton, and Steve & Rhealyn Newton of Brownwood, Grandchildren; Jamie Newton, Cory Newton, Barry & Erika Newton, Amanda & Ralph Rodriguez, Billy & Anne Newton and Tony & Beth Newton, and 11 Great Grandchildren; and one sister, Juanell Morris and two sister in-laws; Helen Fred and Nadine Taylor.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Newton, one grandson, Patrick Newton, Three sisters: Jean Lindsey, lvadell Fred, Gaylene Hooper and three brothers: Troy, Bobby & Keith Fred.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 16th from 5 to 7pm at Krestridge Funeral Home in Levelland. Services will be on Saturday, August 17th at 11 am at Krestridge Funeral Home in Levelland with burial will follow at Resthaven in Lubbock, TX.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to all the Angels that work at Lynwood Nursing Home. Each one of you touched her heart and gave her the very best care.
