Eva Susan Kauffman

Eva Susan Kauffman left her earthbound body on April 1, 2022.  She was born on May 18, 1955 in Lubbock to Russell and Delores Townsend.

Visitation will be held at the Couch Residence, 2948 North FM 2646 in Levelland, near FM 1294, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 8, 2022.  Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Krestridge Funeral Home Chapel.

Susan grew up in Smyer, Texas before graduating from Levelland High School in 1973.  She spent her time writing for the school paper and dreaming of being a journalist. 

She married the love of her life, Rip Kauffman, on June 7, 1973 before moving to Arizona.  Soon, Texas called her home where they raised their two children in Levelland.

Susan occupied her “free” time being an administrative assistant for several oilfield related companies, spending 20 years with GnC Contracting.

Her real job was raising her kids; attending sports games, rodeos, band contests and being the best room mother ever.  Susan became a friend to every friend her kids brought home and every animal that crossed her path. 

After retiring, Susan spent her time advocating and networking for local animals.  She volunteered at the Levelland Animal Shelter for many years.  What really filled her time was researching history and keeping up with her grandchildren.  There isn’t a Texas fact that she didn’t know or a question about Levelland that she couldn’t answer.  Susan would spend hours researching family trees, even though they weren’t her own. 

Susan’s greatest pleasure in life was her family and her grandchildren can never be without.  Her most recent joy was her new great granddaughter, Milani.

Susan was a light in this world, she was brilliant, humble and generous with every last dollar she had

Susan was preceded in death by her father; mother; brothers, David Townsend and Joe Galyon; and husband, Rip Kauffman.

She is survived by sisters, Annetta (Jonathan) Fincher and Rhonda (Larry) Petty; brothers, Tim Galyon and Paul (Barbara) Galyon; son, Donovan (Kathy) Kauffman; daughter, Mandy (Lyndon) Couch; 4 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.
