Steve Campos, a proud US Marine Corps Veteran and resident of Levelland, TX, passed away with his loving family by his side on March 13, 2022 at the age of 77 after a brave battle with cancer.

Steve is the devoted husband and survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Maria Campos; Honored Father to his daughters Monica (Steve) Duran and Jessica (Jason) Rhodes; Brother to Hemerejildo Campos, Alfredo Campos and Maria Antonia Gonzalez; Proud Grandfather to Jojo Olivarez, Xavier Olivarez, Brian Campos, Marissa Campos, Alexus Campos, Daphne Smith, Sam Duran and Daisy Duran; and Cherished Great-Grandfather to Sterling Smith-Marroquin, Maddie Olivarez, Mea Olivarez, Darius Olivarez and Elara Olivarez.  Steve is preceded in death by his beloved sons Steve Campos Jr and Joaquin Von Campos; his parents Andrea Garcia and Encarnacion Campos; his brother Marcos Campos and sister Victoria Campos.

Steve was born to the late Andrea Garcia and Encarnacion Campos, a farmer and a homemaker, in Cameron, TX on September 6, 1944. Steve was blessed with a large and loving family. He married the love of his life, Maria Peralez, on February 12, 1972 in Robstown Tx. Steve enjoyed life, family members and many friends, Steve was always there to brighten the lives of others. Steve was a devoted person of Catholic faith and lived life serving those around him. Steve was a master of his craft when it came to bbqing brisket, as this was his favorite pastime; he shared these skills with those he held near and dear to his heart. He was an amateur harmonicist, avid prankster and creator of embarrassing nicknames as his true passion in life was making those around him laugh with pure joy.

Steve was proud to serve during the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corps, after he served his country, he worked and retired with Amoco Corporation then went on to retire again with Levelland ISD. Steve was an honored 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Robstown, TX. Steve was a hard worker, cherished friend, loving husband, beloved father, and grandfather. We have lost someone who etched nothing but love and joy into the fabric of our family and left a lasting impact on the places he lived and the hearts he touched of those around him, he was a phenomenal person and we loved him deeply.

The family of Steve Campos have entrusted arrangements to be under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Krestridge Funeral Home of Levelland, TX, 505 Austin Street, 806-897-1111.

The viewing will be held at Krestridge Funeral Home on Sunday March 20, 2022 from 2pm to 6pm (Rosary 5pm).

On Monday March 21, 2022 at 2pm there will be a Mass honoring his life at St. Michaels Catholic Church of Levelland, TX, 319 East Washington Street, officiated by Father Ernesto Lopez.

Steve will be laid to rest at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Corpus Christi, TX, date to be determined.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Krestridge Funeral Home, 806-897-1111.
