Doris Janette Reams

Doris J. Reams,87, of Levelland passed from this life on February 10, 2025. The family will have a private remembrance of her life at a later date.

Doris was born April 4,1937 in Whitney, Hill County, Texas to Marcus Judson and Alice Jane Copeland Buchanan. She was the first born of five children. Doris dropped out of school at the age of sixteen and worked to support her family when her father became too sick to work. She married Charley Amos Wyant on October 7,1957 in Hillsboro, Texas, together they raised three children in Whitney, Texas until his passing in 1979.

In 1985, Doris responded to a lonely-hearts advertisement and her letter went to Allen Reams in Durham, California by mistake. Allen responded to the letter anyway, the two met and fell in love and married on January 25, 1986, in Durham, California. The following year the two moved to Levelland, Texas and spent the next eleven year together before his passing in 1997.

Doris became a member of the First Assembly of God Church in 1998. She loved to sing gospel music and quite often made up her own. As a teenager she and her sister sang gospel music on the local radio show in Hillsboro. She loved God and loved to worship Him. 

She lived for her children and grandchildren and was happiest when they were around her. Doris was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marcus Judson and Alice Jane Buchanan; husbands, Charley Amos Wyant and Allen Reams along with a brother, sister and stepson.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include daughter, Charlene Wyant of Levelland, Brenda Leighton of Waco and Judy Fielding of Lorena; along with seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three great- great grandchildren, two brothers and countless nieces and nephews.
