Donald Clyde Cook lost his battle with a lengthy illness on December 2, 2022 at the age of 69. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock.
Don was born May 2, 1953 at Phillips-Dupree Hospital in Levelland. He attended Levelland schools and graduated from Levelland High School in 1971. After graduating from South Plains College, Don completed his Bachelor’s degree at Sam Houston State University with a 4.0 grade point.
In 1975 he joined the Houston Police Department and was assigned to traffic control. Don then became an undercover narcotic officer and was finally promoted to a homicide detective. While a policeman, Don earned his law degree at Houston Law School and moved to Dallas to work for an investigation firm and later as a prosecutor for automotive violations.
Don moved to the Corpus Christi Police Department until his retirement and returning to Levelland.
He took classes at SPC in photography after returning to Levelland and found a passion. Don won several blue ribbons and a best in show at the Lubbock Panhandle Fair for his photographs.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Hubert V. Cook.
He is survived by his mother, Maxine Cook; brother, David Cook and wife Penny; and nephew, Tower Cook and wife Tiffany.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church or Salvation Army.
