David Brown

On Tuesday, August 31, 2021, David Lee Brown, loving husband, outstanding dad, and proud Papa passed away at the age of 76.  David was born September 4, 1944 in Lubbock, Texas and spent his life in Levelland, Texas.  He graduated from Levelland High School in 1963 and attended South Plains College.  He married the love of his life in 1966.

David was drafted and served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969.  While fighting in the First Air Calvary Division in the Vietnam War, he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and 2 Purple Hearts.

As a teenager, David trained horses and worked as a boat mechanic.  He then went to work for Amoco and retired in 1994 after a long, successful career.  He spent his retirement enjoying and caring for his family, his friends, and his animals.

He leaves a legacy as the horse whisperer, the all-around handyman, the healer and the caretaker, the true definition of a good man.  He was a man of few words but his actions spoke volumes.

David was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Brown; mother, Lucille Brown; brother, Roger Brown; sister, Betty Lou Brown; and stepdad, Robert Tollett.  He is survived by his wife, Kaye Brown; son, Devin (Betsy) Brown; daughter, Kristy (Travis) Cruikshank; and his four grandchildren, Cora Brown, Liam Brown, Kyra Cruikshank and Audra Cruikshank.

A celebration of David’s life will be held Monday, September 6, 2021, at 10:00 am at Krestridge Funeral Home in Levelland, Texas.  As David did not like getting dressed up and hated wearing a tie, please feel free to wear casual attire.
