Charles Eugene Lane

Charles Eugene Lane, 85, of Lubbock passed from this life on March 24,2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 27,2024 in the Chapel of Brookdale Grand Court Lubbock.

He was born October 31,1938 in Goree, Texas to Charles and Doris (Patton) Lane. Gene also known as Dad and Papa, graduated from Monterey High School in 1957. He then served in the United States Army as a military policeman. He married Elaine Lindsey in June of 1960. Gene served as a police officer for the both the Lubbock Police Department and the Tempe Police Department. He and his family moved back to Hockley County in 1976 where he was on the Sheriff’s Department and then later working for the Levelland Police Department. When Gene decided to retire, he was working at the Monford Unit in Lubbock. He and Elaine moved to Clifton, Texas to be close to his sister and then moved back to the Lubbock area till his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife, Elaine Lane; son, Chris Lane and wife, Cindy; daughter, Amy Lawless and husband, Rocky; sister, Pat White; grandchildren, Chase Lane and wife, Kendra, Derek Lawless and wife, Ashley, Alex Lane and wife, Keitha; Lindsey Carter and husband, Christian; great grandchildren, Maesyn, Kennedy, Brenden, Cademen, Eden, Donavan, Mason, Cooper and Hayden along with his favorite child, Cookie.
