Carita Black

Carita Tanian Black, 84, of Levelland passed from this life on December 6, 2020.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at the City of Levelland Cemetery.

She was born October 29, 1936 in Danville, Virginia to Andrew and Ella Mae Jarrett.  Carita married Rex Black on July 1, 1961.

Carita graduated from Wayland University and taught school at Brownfield, Whiteface and Levelland.  She played the organ for 51 years at First Baptist Church and also taught piano lessons.

She was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Allen Black and her parents.

Carita is survived by her husband, Rex Black; daughter, Carol Beth Dyess (Blane); son, Craig Black (Stacie); sisters, Judy Cox (Jim) and Love Liebl; brother, Robert Jarrett; and grandchildren, Landon Ellis, Peyton Black and Landrie Black.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Wayne Black Memorial Scholarship at South Plains College, 1401 College, Levelland, Texas 79336 or YWAM, 20131 FM 16, Lindale, Texas 75771.
