Brenda Kay McCleskey

Brenda Kay McCleskey, 72, of Tahoka passed away July 4, 2023.  She was born March 15, 1951, to John and Peggy (Ferguson) Wooten in Bogata, Texas.  She graduated from Slaton High School in 1969 and she married the love of her life in April of that year before she graduated.

Brenda loved to sing and she was a member of the West Texas Praise Team for a number of years.  While preforming with the Praise Team she also worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Grassland Butane for 18 years.  She was a devoted homemaker, wife, and mother.

Before moving to First Baptist Church Tahoka, Brenda was a member of the Grassland Nazarene Church for 45 plus years where she was a Sunday school teacher and choir director.  Upon moving into Tahoka from Grassland she became a member of First Baptist Tahoka in 2016.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Delbert; her children, Corey (BreAnne) and Aaron (Melissa); her grandchildren, Skyler (Brandon), Devin (Morgan), Blake (Madie), Kylynn (Marcus), and Bek; her great-grandchildren, Adalei and one baby due in January.  She is remembered by her sisters, Joyce Bell (Keith) and Teresa Francis (Jim); her brother, Michael (Christi); nephews, Johnny Bishop, Paul Harper, Shane Huffaker (Stevi), Brady Wooten (Ashley); niece, Casie Huffaker; great-nieces, Gracie, Maycn, and Olivia and great-nephews, Cooper, Peyton, Rylon, and Kaydon.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A time of reflection and visitation will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at First Baptist Church Tahoka 1701 Ave. J Tahoka,Texas.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 7, 2023 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church Tahoka with Pastor Jim Daniel and Chaplain Josh Reglin officiating. Interment will follow at Grassland Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Devin McCleskey, Blake McCleskey, Bek McCleskey, Brady Wooten, Brandon Williams, Marcus Vega.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brenda's name to the Grassland Cemetery, 2881 CR 25 Tahoka, Texas 789373.
