Bobbye Bridges, 85, of Levelland passed from this life on January 12, 2020. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, January 17, 2020, at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2020, in the Krestridge Funeral Home Chapel.
She was born in the home of her parents, Otto and Grace Welch in Madden Grove, Oklahoma on June 13, l934. Bobbye was raised in the country near Waurika, Oklahoma, and graduated from Waurika High School.
Bobbye married Chester Odell Bridges on February 24, l951. They lived most of their married life together in Levelland, Texas, moving there in l955.
Bobbye was a devout member of the First Baptist Church, serving in the nursery for more than fifty years. She also served faithfully on the benevolence committee, hosting many families over the years as they said farewell to loved ones.
Bobbye was a nurturing hospitable woman. She loved helping others and did so often times by cooking for large numbers of people. Bobbye was known for her outstanding ability as a seamstress. She outfitted many entire wedding parties, kept several ''regulars'' and her family clothed for many years, and tailored clothing to suit numerous customers.
Bobbye was a fierce competitor. She loved to play games and taught her children and grandchildren to play them. It was an accomplishment to beat ''Mom'' or ''Nanny'' because she never let anyone win.
Bobbye was devoted to her husband, Chester, and her family as a housewife and mother and gave selflessly to all. She led with an impeccable work ethic and taught her children and grandchildren the value of a good reputation, hard work, and education. She was their greatest supporter and champion. Bobbye was often content to stay out of the limelight but should never be mistaken as the one without strength or courage. She was the underlying current of stability and determination for her family with faith that could move mountains.
Bobbye is preceded in death by her husband Chester. She is survived by daughter Debbie Lozano (Ray) of San Antonio, son Gary Bridges (Sandy) of Levelland, and daughter Jena Ford (Rocky) of Fritch; five grandchildren, Jason Lozano (Julie) of San Antonio, Nate Bridges (Laci) of Greenwood, Cale Bridges (Meredith) of Wolfforth, Kylee Armenta (Juan) of Pampa, and Keeston Ford (Micah) of Friona; and seven great-grandchildren, Julianna and Juridia Lozano of San Antonio, Hannah and Callan Bridges of Greenwood, Harrison and Piper Bridges of Wolfforth, and Graci Armenta of Pampa.
