Bobby Joe Sparkman

Bobby Joe Sparkman,83, of Levelland passed from this life on January 28,2025. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, January 31,2025 at Krestridge Funeral Home.

He was born November 21,1941 in Decatur, Texas to Dudley Clifton and Jimmie Chapman Sparkman. Bobby grew up in Post Oak, Texas and was a graduate of Midway High. Bobby enjoyed spending time with his six siblings and his life on the ranch. He attended Tarleton State for two years before transferring to Texas Tech University. While at Tech he met Freda Pointer and she took his name in July of 1968. Shortly after graduation Bobby was drafted by the United States Army where he worked at Fort Detrick, Maryland in the Biochemical Warfare Lab.

Bobby was a member of the Lions Club and Texan Club. He enjoyed playing golf, hanging out at the SPC rodeo arena and traveling to support the team, spending time with family, reading western novels and riding with farmers on the combine during the harvest season. He was member of First Baptist Church where he served as an usher and greeter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Jimmie Sparkman; brother, Cecil Sparkman and sister, Sandra Alexander.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife of 56 years, Freda Sparkman; daughters, Michelee McGeath and husband, Justin of Carlsbad and Marlo Etchison and husband, Kent of Lubbock; brother, George Sparkman and wife, Jeanie; sisters, Nancy Bagoly and husband, Lex, Virginia Newton and husband, Paul and Nelda Sparkman; sister in-law, Betty Sparkman; grandchildren, Mason McGeath, Mitchell McGeath, Keeley Etchison and fiancé, Wesley Timmins, Gage Etchison and Blake Etchison; along with numerous treasured nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to First Baptist Church of Levelland.
