Funeral services for Betty Medford, 88, of Sundown will be at 10:00 am on Monday, July 6, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Sundown.  Interment will follow in the Sundown Cemetery.  Betty passed away on July 1, 2020.

Betty was born in Waurika, Oklahoma on March 17, 1932 to Jasper and Pauline Grubbs.  After graduating from Claypool High School, Betty moved to Levelland.  During the time she worked at General Telephone, she met Dan Pat Medford.  They were married in Clovis, New Mexico on December 23, 1953.  They were blessed with one son, Michal.  They were married for 61 years at the time of Pat’s death.  Pat was a farmer and when he retired in 1965 they moved into Sundown.

Betty was the municipal judge in Sundown for 9 years, and then worked for the Hockley County Senior Citizens until 2005 when she retired.

She loved the garden clubs that she was a member of and enjoyed making flower arrangements.  Betty was a master gardener and judged many local flower shows.  She was a member of the Daughters of Rebekah for over 50 years and served as state president from 1980 to 1981.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pat; son, Michal; and sisters, Margurite, JoElla, and Carrie Ann.

She is survived by her brother, Jasper Grubbs and his wife Shirley of San Antonio; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Sundown Church, P.O. Box 748, Sundown, Texas 79372.
