Benny Leon Carter

Benny Leon Carter, 83, of Levelland passed from this life on March 14, 2025. Born to Gervaise Leon and Mildred Emogene Carter on March 18, 1941, in Hobbs, New Mexico, Benny Leon Carter was their first and only child.

On April 8, 1962, Benny was introduced to Sandra “Sandy” Sue Bratcher by her cousin. Benny and Sandy were married on August 25, 1962, at Northside Baptist Church in Hobbs, New Mexico. The two of them moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where Benny attended the University of New Mexico before moving to Farmington New Mexico where they lived until 1980, at which time they moved to Levelland, Texas, where they remained.

Benny worked for Amoco Production Company, and later under the name of Altura Energy and ultimately OXY Permian, dedicating 25 years to the company before retiring on April 15, 2005

He is survived by his son Don Carter and wife Shelly of Laredo, Texas; son Dennis Carter and wife Shanan of Levelland, Texas; grandchildren, Brittni Wilkerson of Arp, Texas, Hunter Carter of Corpus Christi, Texas, Devin Carter of Lubbock, Texas, Kimberley Dill and Cody Dill of Laredo, Texas, Wyatt Carter, Cage Carter, Kayleigh Carter, Jensen Carter, Emma Pugh, all of Levelland, Texas, and 14 great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Sandra Sue Carter (Sep 2023) and his parents Gervaise Leon Carter (Mar 1997) and Mildred Emogene Carter (Apr 2014).

A Memorial Service for Benny will take place on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM at Krestridge Funeral Home.
