Barry Lee Heard

Barry Lee Heard, 79, of Levelland passed from this life on June 14, 2023. Visitation will be from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Whitharral Baptist Church.

He was born September 14, 1943, in Littlefield, Texas to Richard Lee and Lavina Louise Barry Heard. He graduated from Whitharral High School and married Rene’ Smith on August 2, 1962, in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. Throughout the years they lived in Sanger, Whitharral, and Levelland, Texas, and were married for 52 years.

He worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1999. He was a farmer for many years and had been employed with ProAg Insurance for the past 23 years. He was known for his bright, friendly smile and loved spending time with his family, friends, and on his farm in Whitharral.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Rene’ Heard.

Barry is survived by a sister, Pat (Max) Blair; a brother, Larry (Ann) Heard; son, Barry Don (Jerri) Heard; daughter, Susan (Chad) Pendergrass; and grandchildren, Jake (Crystal) Cage; Logyn Heard, Ryan Pendergrass, Brooke (Keifer) Dalton, great-grandson Wyatt Cole Dalton, soon-to-be great-granddaughter Hallie Rene’ Dalton; and many nieces and nephews.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the South Plains College Foundation Scholarship Fund, or your favorite charity.
