Albert Leon Smith

Services for Albert Leon Smith, 94, of Lubbock will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Krestridge Funeral Home Chapel in Levelland with Rev. Calvin Gray officiating.  Visitation will precede the service at 1:00 pm.  Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.

Leon passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in Lubbock. He was born November 25, 1928 in Bixby, Oklahoma.  Leon moved to Whiteface in 1945 and graduated in 1946.

He married Margaret Bizzell on April 1, 1947.  They had two daughters, Shirley and Jackie.  Margaret preceded him in death in August 1979.  Leon was also preceded in death by his parents, Lee Monroe Smith and Iona Beatrice Boggs Smith; sisters, Ruby Beatrice Williford and Edith Bryant; brother, Willie Floyd Smith; and second wife, Donna Spurlock.

Leon worked for Warren Petroleum (Gulf Oil Corp.) for 37 ½ years.  He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1952 to 1954.  Leon moved from Levelland to Kingsland, Texas in 1990 where he lived until 2012, at which time he moved to Lubbock.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church Downtown Bible Class.

Leon is survived by daughters, Shirley (Randall) Ratliff and Jackie (Chuck) Drake all of Lubbock; brother, Holice (Nancy) Smith of Odessa; grandchildren, Justin Bartlett of Smyer, Morgan (Robby) Emery of Shallowater, Russell (Jaclyn) Ratliff and Mitchell (Ashlee) Ratliff all of Lubbock; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank BeeHive Assisted Living and Beyond Faith Hospice for their loving care.
